What Is A CMS Website?

A Content Management Website, or CMS, is a website which you can update yourself. Depending on the sophistication of the operating system will govern which parts of a website you can edit or change. They should include, but are not limited to:
  • Adding photos - resizing for the web an option, but optimized for quick loading times.
  • Add/Edit text.
  • Some Basic SEO options - see HERE for more about that.
Do I need a CMS Website?

There are really so much benefits from a CMS website that you could hardly think of any pitfalls. Your CMS website rapidly becomes part of your will, projected on the internet. You can target specific parts of your business, keep it fresh looking and never need to worry about contacting a webmaster or IT department on order to update it. The downsides are that it can take time to learn how to use it fluently (The Hammerhead CMS takes about 1 day) however, you can always get us to do the updates with a managed account.  The CMS website is, and can be and amazing business tool, raising income and the image of your company. The beauty of a cloud hosted solution like ours, is that you can change the entire graphics and keep all the content in the same place, you will never have to change your website ever again.

Content Management Systems have been around for years, but recently you can do more and more with them. Some problems have arisen in that even now the most popular ones are now becoming difficult to operate unless you know at least some basic programming skills, and a lot of the jargon.  The Hammerhead CMS was built to be accessible to anyone able to operate a Facebook account, intuitive and most have described the experience of making their own website as “fun!”

Keep At it!

CMS websites take time initially to build, and then you just need to keep them going with fresh content on a regular basis. A new page with 150 words every 2 weeks should cover that, but the more the merrier. And with a website you built yourself you will have an intimate relationship with it. You will know exactly what is where, what is working and what is not.

The Future of CMS Websites

As Content Management Systems progress we will see a lot more IT manufacturers trying to achieve a simpler operating system, whilst also offering more complicated hidden functionality. The idea is to reach a Nirvana where the operator has to do very little in order to enjoy a very appealing website, which will rank quickly. Unfortunately, no such system has yet been created, or will be likely to appear in the next 10 years. By then of course the search engines (such as Google, Bing, etc.) will have changed all the rules, and you may just have to put even more time in to compete with the other 10 billion new websites in your sector of the market. Best you get your website in order now, we would of course recommend the Hammerhead CMS.
