Making a Top Widget

Making a Top Widget

Making Top Widgets can be fun and really help add to the overall feel of your website. Of course, you can use the pre-installed widgets on the site, but you may not like them or you may want to make them more themed. We also buy ours from graphic designers, as they are not expensive and are usually of very high quality. For top widgets there is only 2 rules, and that is the measurements and uploading:

  • 130 width  x 195 height Pixels in dimensions.
  • Always check the 'Transparent' box when uploading.

The reason for this is that the top banner can then support the height and 5 widgets on the width. You can make them thinner, but we feel that they look aesthetically pleasing at that size.

Some of the programs you can use to make your Top Widgets could be:

  • Microsoft Paint (very easy)
  • Photoshop (a lot to learn)
  • PaintBrush (very easy)

Or again, get a graphic designer, or a talented friend to make you a set. You can also pre-adjust photos using free downloadable software such as Picasa 3 (which is also very good for taking out all the blue from your dive pics too!)
