Do Not Try this At Home by Jon Roberts

When a company spends money on advertising, it does not expect to get less than 100% return on the investment, usually 110% or more. Websites are almost identical in this approach, but the return on investment should be considerably higher. You would be surprised how many companies do not see it this way, and rely on other forms of advertising, or even luck to generate business. A website is a shop that is open 24 hours a day, a billboard that never sleeps.

The other great mistake is making the website yourself. This creates 2 further issues. The first being that you have now taken your eye off the ball, you are a dive center operator not an IT specialist and your business will indirectly suffer from it.  Let’s ask the question, “How many people walked into your dive center today to order a website?”  Actually, how many have ever walked in and asked for one? My guess is ‘not that many.’ The problem is that as a non-professional, you are probably making more problems than you are fixing, it’s like hiring a self-taught dive instructor – it’s a big no-no.

The best way forward is to get some advice, on the button below marked ‘As An Expert’ you can, for free, get answers to most of your IT questions. OK, so we are going to suggest using us, but we might actually be qualified to give you that advice. We have turned down business too, this has been when the customers expectations of what is technically possible has been overtaken by what is technically available. A week does not go bye when we get the request for a "cheap website, that brings in a lot of money." How many mules compete in the Kentucky Derby?

Whatever you do, concentrate on getting the right tools for the right job, you’re probably a fantastic manager and we want you to stay that way. Invest in technology in order to compete locally and internationally, and be an early mover. Do not wait until the competition has a racehorse on the track months ahead of you, you will have an expensive and difficult job catching up with them. Get it right and you will succeed, get advice, get it for free, reading this article will have helped!
