Add a ShareThis widget

The following instructions explain how to add a ShareThis widget as a left widget to your website.  An example of the ShareThis widget can be found on the PADI Courses webpage on padi.com.

  1. First go to the ShareThis webpage and click Get The Button.  You'll be presented with three steps;
  2. Website or blog?  Select Website
  3. Pick your style.  For a left hand widget, select the first option
  4. Choose a Share Widget Style.  Select with Oauth or Classic
  5. Then click Get the Button
  6. Complete the Publisher Registration form or login if you've already registered.
  7. You should now be presented with two code boxes.  You need to copy and paste both pieces of code into the left widget
  8. Login to the Hammerhead CMS Control Panel and select Site, Left Widgets from the menus
  9. Click New to create a new widget and select Embedded, then click Next
  10. Enter a widget name such as ShareThis, paste both pieces of embed code underneath each other into the Embed Code box and click Execute
  11. Adjust the order of your left widgets and finally refresh your site cache
  12. You should now see a ShareThis widget on your homepage. If you see any strange code on your homepage above or below the new widget then you haven't copied all of the required embed code from Facebook, so go back to the ShareThis website and re-copy the code, then edit the widget to paste in the new code.

There are many website offering embed code for other useful services, like weather widgets, live chat widgets, news widgets, etc. The process for adding them to your website is the same as above only you might want to create a specific page is the embedded control is too large to fit as a left widget - check out the following webpage Adding a widget to your website for more details.
